Charlotte Rescue Mission has reached a milestone in the construction of their newest Rebound facility that will provide shelter and offer addiction recovery services for men in the Charlotte area. With window installation complete, the project is completely dried in and progressing.

Founded in 1938, Charlotte Rescue Mission launched its Rebound initiative in 1990, a free residential program empowering men to move beyond cycles of homelessness and addiction. Today, the nonprofit operates both a men’s and women’s recovery center where it uses counseling, group therapy, work sessions, Alcoholics Anonymous, and a life skills program to ensure participants are set up for success following their time in the program. Delivering in Q2 2024, the new building is under construction just a few hundred feet away from the current Rebound facility.

The new facility will be five stories and encompass 72,000 square feet. It will integrate modernized amenities including a full commercial kitchen and cafeteria, a chapel that can seat up to 150 people, a classroom and a learning center for residents pursuing their GED and other higher education opportunities. A medicine room and fitness center with upgraded equipment will also be available for residents. Lounges located on each floor, complete with shuffleboard, a pool table and TVs, encourage social interaction and relaxation throughout the resident’s time at Rebound.

The current Rebound building can host three 120-day programs per year, accommodating 130 men per session. Once the new building is complete, 33 additional men can participate in each session, successfully reaching 99 more men per year. In 2020 as community needs grew, Charlotte Rescue Mission launched the Miracle at Cedar Street campaign for a new Rebound facility. The majority of the project has been financed by COVID-19 relief funds from the City of Charlotte, grants received from Mecklenburg County and charitable donations and contributions from the community and local businesses.

“Charlotte Rescue Mission serves those at the intersection of homelessness and addiction so they can achieve their God-given potential,” said Tony Marciano, President and CEO of Charlotte Rescue Mission. “For so long, our men’s campus has not reflected the respect, dignity, and hope we seek to restore in the men we serve. The transformation of the Rebound campus represents the transformation our men experience when they move from addiction to a future filled with hope and wholeness.”

JLL is providing project management services for the new build, led by Senior Project Manager, Jennifer Bowers. “It has been extremely rewarding to watch the new campus come to life over the past few years, from conception to groundbreaking and every milestone in between,” said JLL’s Bowers. “Committed to transforming men’s lives through dignity and respect, Charlotte Rescue Mission makes a tangible difference in the community, and we are honored to play a role in the future of the organization. The new space will accommodate an increased number of participants for admission, and we are confident that this facility will aid in changing the lives of many.”
